ClearShelf Privacy

ClearShelf is an inventory intelligence app for Shopify. We only access the store data we need to provide the service — we never sell, share, or expose merchant or customer data to third parties.

1. Who We Are

ClearShelf is a Shopify application developed and operated by Convert Cartel. When we refer to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy, we mean Convert Cartel as the data controller for ClearShelf.

For any privacy-related questions, contact us at: hello@convertcartel.com

2. What Data We Access

ClearShelf accesses the following data from your Shopify store via the Shopify Admin API:

  • Products — product titles, SKUs, prices, inventory quantities, cost per item, vendor names, product types, and images
  • Orders — order line items and quantities from the last 30 days, used solely to calculate sales velocity per product. We do not access customer names, emails, addresses, payment details, or any other personal customer information.
  • Shop domain — your myshopify.com domain, used to identify your store and associate your settings with your account

We do not access customer profiles, contact information, financial data, or any data beyond what is listed above.

3. How We Use Your Data

All data accessed from your store is used exclusively to provide ClearShelf's core functionality:

  • Calculating per-product sales velocity from recent order history
  • Identifying dead stock, runout risks, and high-margin opportunities
  • Generating AI-powered inventory recommendations and purchasing briefs
  • Executing automations you explicitly trigger (e.g. updating a product's sale price or adding a tag)
  • Storing your app settings (lead times, safety stock preferences) between sessions

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to inventory management.

4. Data Storage

ClearShelf stores the following data in a secure database hosted on Railway (a SOC 2 compliant cloud infrastructure provider):

  • Your shop domain
  • Your reorder settings (lead times, safety stock, coverage targets)
  • Recommendation states (which recommendations you have dismissed or resolved)
  • Per-product reorder overrides if set

We do not store copies of your products, orders, or any Shopify data locally. All product and order data is fetched live from Shopify each time you open the app and is not persisted beyond the session.

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.

5. Third-Party Services

ClearShelf uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Shopify Admin API — to read and write store data as described above
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — to generate AI-powered purchasing briefs and inventory insights. Only anonymised, aggregated inventory summaries (product names, quantities, velocities) are sent. No customer data is ever sent to Anthropic.
  • Railway — cloud hosting and database infrastructure

We do not sell or share your data with any other third parties.

6. Data Retention

Your app settings and recommendation states are retained for as long as your store has ClearShelf installed. When you uninstall ClearShelf, we will delete all stored data associated with your shop domain within 30 days of uninstallation.

You may request immediate deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at.

7. Your Rights

As a merchant using ClearShelf, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the data we hold about your store
  • Request correction of any inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of all your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the app

To exercise any of these rights, contact us hello@convertcartel.com at and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Shopify's Role

ClearShelf operates within the Shopify ecosystem and is bound by Shopify's Partner Program Agreement and API Terms of Service. Shopify acts as a data processor on our behalf for authentication and API access. For information about how Shopify handles data, please refer to.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify merchants of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ClearShelf after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
